Well, I finally got the papers submitted to IRB. They should get to them this week. I'm sure they will have some recommendations that I will do and be able to get their approval.
My next step is to get the proposal over to the County Attorney and get his help and endorsement. I'm planning to do that sometime next week, May 14 thru 18.
It's Summer University time here on campus. I have attended several sessions that have been fascinating. Yesterday there was one on a new Institutional Repository being established through the library. They will publish anything on their site that we want to put there. I think it would be a neat place to put things I have written. It will be a great place for students to publish their papers. That will be another big project for me to head up.
The other very interesting session that I attended yesterday was by Susan Madsen of the business department who talked about her study of successful women. One of the central outcomes of her interviews was that most of what the successful women talked about was their families and family effect on them as successful women. That fits right in with my ideas of having parenting and/or marriage classes as part of General Education at UVU. I spoke with her about having such a class and she was supportive of the idea. That's another big project for me to do.
The sheetrockers are cookin'! This week they have rocked the whole house, and have taped everything...all in 3 days. I'm impressed! Finish Carpentry should be on May 21 or 22, then painting. Then hardwood floors, then cabinets and their painting and then final electrical, plumbing, and heating/cooling. Exciting! We could be in before we know it.
